Design Contest Before and After

This is my entry for this week's Spoonflower (Fabric) Design Challenge with a picture of the original drawing I used as my guide.

(By the way, my tentative plan at this point is to post my work on weekends and use the 5 weekdays to post tutorials/ideas/projects for others to try as well as inspiration for living a creative life.)

An easy little project

I just got a Passion Planner! (Yeah, I know it's May - but hey, the sale price was excellent.) I decided to get the plain Eco version and embellish it myself. Not sure how this would work with the regular planners, as ironing is involved.

P.S. I am not an affiliate or anything, but I do adore this planner. Here's where to get one. http://www.passionplanner.com/

P.P.S. This is my way of getting my feet wet before starting a regular series of tutorials on fabric collage and other things.

Voila!

Some More Fabric Collage Artworks

Here are 4 more of my fabric collage works, done between 2014 and 2017.

1. This work was the Festival of Wreaths "Staff Choice" in 2014 (Carroll County MD Arts Council). The background is hand painted/soy wax batik. Not sure of the size, but around 22x22 inches or 24x24 inches.

2. "Fiddlehead Ferns" - 12x12 show at the Carroll County Arts Center, 2015.

3. "IceFire" - member show at Carroll County Art Arts Center, 2015. The bright background is hand painted on a yard sale fabric napkin. The green part was from a yard sale tablecloth. 24x28 inches.

4. Another from the library show (2017). This was started with 2 others for the 12x12 show, but not finished as I chose to do the ferns instead. The tree details are done with free motion machine embroidery.

I'm joining the studio tour!

Hi all, I am very excited to be a part of the upcoming studio tours in Saranac Lake starting with the end of July weekend.

As part of the preparation, I will be posting more of my artwork as well as tutorials and other things (not sure what, yet!) on a regular basis.

For the first post, below are some photos of my little show of fabric collage art at the Corning Public Library (Corning, NY) that took place last summer. (Above is the sign I made to go with the exhibit.)

I also taught a class on this technique at the library last May.

3. Factory Windows (my personal favorite) and the photo I worked from.
